The Dale was the Overton County residence of Catherine “Bonny Kate” (Sherrill) Sevier, the second wife and widow of the State of Franklin and Tennessee’s first governor, General John Sevier. She moved to the farm near Willow Grove after Governor Sevier’s death in 1815. She lived there for several years near several of her children and stepchildren before moving to Alabama to live with one of her sons. The Dale property is now located in Clay County. This lithograph is image #1159 in the collection of the Tennessee State Library and Archives. (Photo circa 1820)
